OSA Football Report – 15th November 2014
Following a downpour in the morning and the continual threat of rain, somewhat surprisingly, this year’s football match took place without a drop of rain falling! Once again, interest in representing both teams had been high resulting in several subs on the day with a roll on / roll off format being adopted.
The OSA team took an early lead scoring the first two goals of the match. But the School team pulled back, equalizing the score to 2 – 2 at half time. In the second half, the School side went ahead 3 – 2 but a last minute header by the OSA side brought the final score to 3 – 3. This resulted in the third penalty shoot-out in three consecutive years! The OSA players planted the ball firmly in the net each time and, with the School players missing two shots, this year, it was time for the OSA team to celebrate victory! Dan Stoner, captain of the OSA team, accepted the Wynne Statham Challenge Trophy during a presentation at afternoon tea.
Well done to all those who took part and thank you to them for their continued support of the Association. My thanks go to Mr Harvey for refereeing, Mr Shelley for helping me organise the two teams, to the spectators who turned out to support the match, to the kitchen staff for the sumptuous afternoon tea and finally, to the College for hosting the event.
