Simon Heeley – Grenville House 1989 – 1994

Simon popped into the school a couple of years ago and had a catch up and tour. He has recently been in contact to update us on his work and private life.

Simon is a musician and says that he’s always held Shoreham primarily responsible for developing his interest and enthusiasm for music and ultimately inspiring him to make a living out of it. He works as a freelance piano player and musical director, with most of his work for the last 15 years having been in West End musicals. Simon finished working on "The Commitments" musical last November, and will be starting on the Disney musical "Aladdin" in May this year as pit piano player and deputy conductor. Prior to this, he played and conducted on A Chorus Line, Shrek the Musical, Sister Act and Dirty Dancing the Musical in the West End.

Simon’s freelance piano playing has also led in recent years to performances with the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC's The Voice (audition pianist), as well as gigs/tours as keyboard player with Boney M, The Chi-Lites, The Real Thing and The Four Tops.

Simon got married in July 2015 to a professional orchestral oboe player and the couple are now expecting a baby this May. The wedding pictures were taken in Colwyn Bay.
