The SCPA recently enjoyed one of their most successful Stool Ball nights this year with over 80 parents and children in attendance.
Held earlier in the term on September 14th, we benefitted from the still-light evening and play went on until almost everyone had either taken a turn, or retired to the grass outside the bar for refreshments.
We owe a special debt of gratitude to Paisley who rescued us at short notice by umpiring the teams and explaining the rules to any newbies. Paisley has a special connection to Stool Ball having played for the Sussex Championship team this year and was volunteered by her family who are new to Shoreham College. Clearly, refereeing at our event will be the pinnacle of her Stool Ball career, but we were still very lucky to have her. In the end, it was a close fought victory by Team 1 who beat the other three teams by just four points.
Over 100 Southwick-Butcher hotdogs were consumed and the bar raised a staggering £175 so we would like to extend our thanks to all the parents and children that came and supported.
The event is organised primarily to help new parents meet each other and to give the children an opportunity to let off some steam on a Friday night, so hopefully it achieved both with the added bonus of getting this year’s fund raising off to a flying start!
